First Steps is TASC’s program for teens who are pregnant or currently parenting. Finding out you’re pregnant while still a teenager can come as a huge shock — and that’s the easy part! Figuring out how you will balance child care, a job, AND school can get overwhelming fast. Our goal is to remove some of that burden so you can focus on finishing school, achieving your goals, and creating a great life for yourself and your new family.
To make an appointment to sign up for First Steps, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 479-636-8272. When you arrive, we’ll check in to see how things are going with you. Whether you’re in school or working, we want to know about it! If you have any questions about your child’s development, local clinics, health insurance, etc., we hope you’ll ask. We’ll do our best to provide you with the knowledge you need to be a great parent for your little one. Each week when you visit you are eligible to receive:
- One package of diapers (per child)
- One package of wipes (per child, depending on package size)
- One can of formula (if you use it)
We also have odds and ends available (clothes, bottles, pacifiers, etc.), so if you need something in particular, please don’t hesitate to ask. If we don’t have the item, we’ll do our best to help you find it locally.
First Steps formally took shape in January of 2011 with one client. These days we currently serve around 25 families each week. In 2014, the program provided a total of $20,720.70 worth of resources (excluding miscellaneous items) to 43 families and a total of 49 babies in 2014!
In 2014 we distributed:
- 1,557 packages of diapers
- 1,393 packages of wipes
- 52 cans of formula
- $2,621 worth of misc. items (bottles, wash, etc.)
